Rotating video using VLC media player

I mostly make mistake of recording rotated videos using my phone, so I end up seeing a lot of my videos on my pc while my neck is tilted. Luckily VLC media player has an option of rotating videos while they play. First you need to download VLC media player from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html, it’s completely free and supported for all platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Unix.

Start the wrongly recorded video as normal using VLC, you will see video as shown below.

Now since this video is off by 90 degrees we just have to rotate it by 90 to make sure its viewed without any issues. In order to accomplish this select Tools->Effects and Filters menu option as shown below.

This will open up Adjustments and Effects dialog. Select Video Effects tab Geometry sub tab. Now select Transform check box and specify Rotate by 90 degrees from the drop down option. Selecting this option will immediately transform the video as shown below.

You can also use Rotate panel from above view to rotate video to a specific degree.

Kindly note above changes will not update the video file.
